Howloween - Dog Gone good ideas for some Costumes!

| Monday night, Animal Fair hosted its 9th Annual Howloween Costume Party to benefit the Humane Society of New York. I always get a kick out of looking at pictures of dogs, especially cute dogs in over-the-top outfits. But with a few days left before Halloween, I thought besides being fun and a great cause, it would actually be practical to share these pictures with you since there are some amazing ideas for really clever Halloween costumes! A big theme for Halloween costumes this year was 2009 newsmakers. Host Wendy Diamond’s dog Lucky was dressed as “Balloon Boy,” a clever homemade costume using old hangers and reynolds wrap. Lauren Sivan and Rick Leventhal were Captain “Sully” Sullenberger and his flight attendant while their dog Spanx debuted as the bird that flew into the plane engine. Michael Jackson was there and so was Eli the Chihuahua dressed as the Pope. Other favorites included Jane Pontarelli’s maltese dressed as a “diva dog” in a $1,000 bright red Kleinfeld’s dog wedding dress, a doggie duo dressed as Snoopy and Woodstock, and Luigi, a tiny punk rocker complete with a little pink Mohawk. Hopefully these doggies got more treats than tricks! Happy Halloween!
