Sky-high heels no more?

At the Liz Claiborne showroom, where Isaac Mizrahi hosted a screening of Red Bucket Button Films.

Isaac Mizrahi hosted a screening of Red Bucket Button Films at the Liz Claiborne showroom. While the series of short films got upbeat audience reviews and the audience got goodies of their own, including popcorn, Dylan’s Candy, and overstuffed Liz Claiborne gift bags, the talk of the night was Isaac Mizrahi’s hot pink pedi. The trend this fall is women trading in their sky-high heels for more “practical” flats. Not ballet slippers like last year, but actual men’s styles (Heels are dead — long live flats).

From The Times: Heels are dead — long live flats (clockwise from top left): Slimline classic matt brogues by Rupert Sanderson, £385; Low-cut tasselled loafers with threaded sides from Office, £60; Pure Savile Row perforated brogues from Topshop, £55; Patent leather loafers from Russell & Bromley, £125.

So with us borrowing ideas from our fellow gentleman, I don’t see why they can’t pretty their feet up like we do. Note to our male readers: While I encourage the occasional “man”-icure and pedicure, only Isaac Mizrahi can pull off the hot-pink toe polish.

Also this week was the 80th Anniversary of Monet Jewelry. To celebrate this milestone, Tim Gunn hosted a celebration at the Monet showroom. As Mr. Gunn suggests ... you can wear your Monet accessories with your LBD, the classic white shirt, a cashmere cardigan, just about anything and the chunky jewelry will instantly update your look.

And downtown on Bleecker Street, Vanity Fair’s SunHee Grinnell Toasted Marc Jacobs and his new fragrance, Lola. The bottle is so pretty that it's worth buying just to display on your vanity. But what I really love is Marc Jacob’s attitude towards perfume:

"Fragrance is just as important as accessories, bags and shoes are ... Not only does it help set a mood, it's a luxury you can have no matter what your size or height or wallet. I'm happy to keep offering more choices. I know I like to rotate fragrances depending on my mood."

So true!

Mrs. Louise Kerz Hirschfeld hosted a private launch cocktail party from 6-8pm two nights ago at The Al Hirschfeld Townhouse to introduce the Jennifer Berghaus Private Collection – that includes Ready-to-Wear and accessories. Jennifer’s background in the Arts & Fashion led her to start her own line last year. Mrs. Hirschfeld, a good friend of Jennifer’s from when she worked in the art world, encouraged her to re-enter the world of fashion, thus hosting a pre-fashion week event. Mannequins and artistic illustrations of Jennifer’s collection were on display with A Midsummer Night’s Dream theme to the event.

Jennifer Berghaus Private Collection is currently carried at The Blue Tree on Madison Avenue.
