An Apple-a-day keeps the wrinkles away

by Wendy Lerman

Finding the next best thing in beauty products can put a smile on even the most botoxed of faces, but when it's for a great cause it is just that much more rewarding. The newly launched Clark’s Botanical Cellular Lifting Serum is a breakthrough skin serum. Its key active ingredient is plant stem cells from a rare Swiss Apple, making it the first serum of its kind.

Clark’s Botanicals Cellular Lfiting Serum, $355. Available at Saks Fifth Avenue.
I was thrilled to be invited to the launch party Wednesday night at Saks Fifth Avenue. The entire skin care line is top notch and I had been eager to test out the new product. It was only there that I learned the incredible story from which Clark’s Botanicals was created. Founder Francesco Clark was working in the fashion arena at Harper’s Bazaar when he suffered a crippling spinal cord injury in a swimming pool diving accident. He lost the ability to walk and even to sweat. This led to clogged pores and chronic breakouts that neither over-the-counter products nor prescriptives could remedy. Francesco and his father, Dr. Harold Clark, worked together to develop botanically-based formulas that effectively rebalanced Francesco’s skin, clearing it up entirely. He quickly gained a cult-like following in the fashion world and beyond and thus Clark’s Botanicals was born.

Francesco is a National Ambassador for the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, which is dedicated to curing spinal cord injury and improving the quality of life for people living with paralysis. A percentage of profits from his sales goes to the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation. So the serum is fabulous for the face and better yet, the proceeds go to an unbeatable cause. And they say beauty is only skin deep!
