Oh dear, it's March and suddenly all of my coats were looking a little heavy and warn out, exactly like I feel after the long and cold winter! Knowing that a great spring coat can really make an outfit and perk up a girl’s spirit, I went to see Viva Bhogaita at the Carlisle Collection to see the new line for the season and found a wonderfully versatile selection.
As Founder of What2WearWhere.com, an online boutique and blog that helps today’s busy women dress and shop for all of life’s occasions, I naturally categorize fashion pieces into events where they would be worn. I find it simplifies the process immensely and saves time. I made a list of coats and jackets I thought I would need to take me through the season. Here is my list: Everyday Trench Luncheons Travel Evening Since Black and White is my favorite pairing for Spring, I began with a lovely reversible coat. It has perfectly simple and smart styling – a stand up collar and turned back cuff. The slightly fitted silhouette is very flattering and can be worn with a belt or without. This is a great day to night coat. |

I have a few luncheons coming up and I found two jackets, one long and one short that would work very well over a dress or skirt for day, with black pants and soft blouse for evenings and with jeans and T-shirt for the weekend. Both of them are beautiful hued tweeds that have great texture and can go with just about any other shade. You can see how well it works with the surrounding bright pinks in the salon.

For travel, nothing beats a good trench. This black patent with ¾ length sleeve is a really chic go-to for day or night. Pair it with bright, long gloves and satchel, and walk the streets of London, Paris or any city in the world, in great style. Patent Leather is a great travel fabric because it can take a beating and still look good.

I also fell in love with the short belted trench that will fold to nothing in a suitcase and would look good over everything from jeans to a cocktail dress. I also see this as a great “run around the city” piece.

I am a huge fan of leather and I love the length and color of this handsome buff jacket. Equally at home over a LBD or a pair of jeans, I can see this being a staple in my spring closet. It is a multi-tasking piece that will go to the office and then out for coffee or a quick lunch with the girls.

Admittedly, I have saved my favorite for last. This dazzling linen metallic topper is an elegant ensemble-maker for evenings out on the town. And while it shimmers, the texture gives it a sense of subtlety and understatement. You can dress it down for an art opening in Chelsea or up for a night at the opera.
