Gillian Miniter and her daughter Serena check out the spring collection at Carlisle and Per Se

On a recent Friday afternoon, New York Social Diary invited Gillian Miniter to the Carlisle and Per Se Showroom to see the new spring fashions. Her 13-year-old daughter Serena was finished with school and, out of curiosity, wanted to go with her mother.

True to the Carlisle and Per Se experience, when guests arrive at the East 52nd Street penthouse, a personal consultant greets them. Viva Bhogaita was theirs. Not everyone can be a consultant.  It takes time, training and an innate sense of style. Viva has that and more.

Viva consults with mother and daughter.

As with every new guest, in order to understand their individual needs, the consultant interviews them. Viva also has a daughter named Serena. She remembered that when her daughter was 13, she loved her mother’s fashions.

As Gillian and Viva chatted, it became obvious that there were some items that would be perfect for Serena.

Viva takes the women on a tour of the looks, showing them how to wear each piece multiple ways.

Viva decided to show them the Per Se collection first.

“I like a lot of the pinks, and the blues,” Serena said. “And the whites are really pretty. I like most colors!” she added. The Spring Per Se collection is wonderfully colorful.

Serena has a look at the Carlisle Spring collection ...

At 13, Serena can make any outfit come to life. Viva pointed to looks from both the Carlisle and Per Se collections that were age appropriate. One of the most surprising discoveries was the price points: each custom tailored item of clothing was quite a bit less expensive than one might expect. As you can see from the pictures, they adored the clothes.

Viva shows Serena a fabulous pink sweater that is versatile and fun. They call it ‘Rio,’ silk, cotton and cashmere jersey tie-front cardigan over a stretch silk, cotton, cashmere and nylon ribknit sleeveless scoop neck sweater. Serena in a stretch silk-blend ribknit open cardigan over a stretch silk-blend jersey sweater with a reversible neckline. The ensemble is called ‘Cricket.’
One of Serena’s favorites was this red striped top from the Carlisle collection. It’s called ‘Marina.”
“I really love this — it’s so cute!” Like mother, like daughter! Both Gillian and Serena try on this stunning cotton blend Jacquard Jacket with beaded and fringed braid trim. They call it ‘City.’
Gillian found a ‘little black dress’: It is a viscose crepe, belted, one-shoulder dress called ‘Samantha.’
Gillian then tried on this stunning coat.

Together, both mother and daughter had an enjoyable experience.

Gillian summed it up best: “I find the collection accessible and the prices reasonable. I’m pleasantly surprised to find so many great pieces that Serena could enjoy trying on. She had a great time. She’s thrilled!”
