Per Se Collection Fall Fashion Trends

| With only a little less than two weeks left to the "summer vacation," autumn will soon be with us. Classes have already begun in many of the colleges. It’s three weeks until Fashion Week, two weeks until the Museum at FIT Fashion Couture Council Luncheon, and four until the Fete de Swifty. The big question returns: what to wear! We asked our friends at the Per Se Collection how they saw the Fall trends are shaping up, and here is their response. We favor smart, chic and sophisticated this season with edgy fun-fur, feathers and especially ultra-luxe leathers. Also new knits, Power dressing is evident in sexy new suits, color-blocking and plaids that are more Paris than prep. We're spinning great looks with hot toppers. When it comes to the evening, putting on a shine with clothes that glitter is popular. With color, neutrals are natural worn with black. There's toffee, charcoal, biscuit and birch. As always, Winter White is the palette cleanser. Then, there are haute-voltage hues of Venetian Green — a shocking chartreuse, sizzling hot pink, sexy lipstick red and flash blue. |

| Retro-glam becomes ultra-hip with fur and feathers. Muskrat plays it on or off-the-cuff of a jacket that takes vintage way uptown. Black Rex Rabbit is sheared, striped, shaped, sashed and French-officer-collared into the "It" coat of the season. We have a fabulous fabric from France, with feather-like layers of black/biscuit lacquer-glazed clipped poly. |

| The new plaids are a far cry from the highlands — edgy, sexy, more Paris than prep. We have a downtown plaid embroidered with pearlized and patent leather across a black suede skirt: bow-tied sweater and brushed plaids printed on a silk satin blouse. |

| Sweaters outfits are popular and easy to wear. This year one of our crowd pleasers is our chunky-ribbed turtleneck dress. Or there's what we like to call a madcap plaid dress, which is made from an op-art jacquard. For something slightly different, we have an over-long, black merino wool vest with poodle-twisted yarn trim. |

| Perfect for autumn and the cooler weather are this season's toppers. Women love to slip into our herringbone tweed "cocoon." For traveling, we recommend our parachute-weight, black on black geometric jacquard coat, but the one we’re partial to is a double-breasted coat with a slouchy belt in back. |

| This season our suits give the long, lean look, with skinny skirt or tapered pants. We have a military inspired jacket trimmed with chain. Then, there's an Italian tweed jacket that's as light as a little knit. Masculine meets feminine in our menswear herringbone coat. |

| Part of the fun of dressing up is to wear something sparkling. Our boiled wool jacket, with standup collar and cropped sleeves is decorated with Swarovski crystals, pearls and metallic beads for some major light reflection. Chain-mail adds sparkle to a slinky, black-stretch turtleneck and to a charcoal/black glazed tweed skirt. And a sleeveless, balloon-skirted, ribbon pleated cocktail dress simply shimmers. |
