| Merging fashion with charity is something that many women can get behind in theory. But making every purchase count is something Betsy Schaper and Carlisle/Per Se made a reality last month. Ms. Schaper, Director of The Armin & Ethel Schaper Charitable Foundation, coillaborated with Per Se designer Susan Klope to unveil the line’s Summer collection for a select group of men and women at the Per Se Showroom in Greenwich. Guests were invited and informed that 20% of any purchases that month would go towards supporting the Greenwich Hospital’s Armin & Ethel Schaper Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU). |

Klope and Schaper’s focus was kick-starting the summer wardrobe. The two women picked out pieces from the summer line compatiable with Klope’s personal style. They also selected a number of trends to showcase on the two Per Se models to wear at the event. |

| During the event, while the models showed the outfits, Susan Klope demonstrated the details she put in to each garment. “The Per Se collection is all about attitude, not age.” The summer wardrobe needs those little numbers that fit easily into a carry-on bag for the weekend getaway and look sleek and be comfortable. In this collection, the designer was inspired by tribal themes, skimmer dresses, a fresh take on the tunic, a diverse palette of colors ranging from neutrals to vibrant shades, and prints incorporating contemporary art. |

| Here are just of few of Susan Klope’s MUST-have Per Se picks for stylish women this season: CULTURE PATTERNS: Tribal is major. Africa and points East are muse. A desert-shaded skirts beaded with bone in the pattern of Kenyan cloth, braided trim inspired by Botswana baskets and even interpreted a hand-carved Maasai necklace in jersey knit. SILVER WEAR: pearly, sandy, silver spoon colors with white and cream; tee-shirting that pours like liquid mercury; white shirting showered with silver dust; a natural linen jacket printed with silver dots like the candy buttons of our childhood. DÉJÀ BLUE: Swimming in watercolors. This summer, it’s blue, blue, blue. Also, sunlight reflecting off water in the silk of a multi-textured croco-jacquard, hand-painted watercolors, island florals in the blues and greens of the Pacific. COOL FUSION: A collage of prints. Surrealistic is the name of the game, with patterns that look as if they were created by art l’assemblage! Shades of chiaroscuro in an obi-sashed empire dress—a ‘silhouette collage’ of black jersey bodice and cotton sateen bow print. SUMMER STOCK: Sleeveless tunics and skimmer dresses are smash hits. Just the thing for those 110-in-the-shade days, super-cool and sporty chic. Perfect for city girls with sun-kissed shoulders. Standouts include: textured floral jacquards in black or red hot, black/white/red abstract squares with the look of layers and tunics in highlight yellow paired over white pencil pants to give you the long-lean look. |
