Bergdorf Goodman: What's in Store

by Wendy Lerman

Carlos Falchi and his daughter, Kate (right) visited Bergdorf Goodman for the Carlos Falchi Hand-Painted event.

Leave it to Bergdorf Goodman to come up with the most creative and fun new trend in handbags – combining accessories with artisans. BG took the concept of personalizing bags to a whole new level by hosting in-store shopping events, which included painters, needlepointers, and other craftsmen to help decorate and give shoppers a truly hands-on fashion experience.

At the Fendi Fatto A Mano event, shoppers tried out Fendi’s limited-edition kit that enables you to needlepoint your own Fendi baguette. Of course they had on-hand a needlepoint expert doing demonstrations and helping customers. You could even arrange to have her decorate the bag for you, if you’re artistically challenged but still love this look.

Both Carlos Falchi and his daughter, Kate visited Bergdorf Goodman for the Carlos Falchi Hand-Painted event. They were there demonstrating how Kate paints the clutches in Falchi’s Henna Collection. Named for the henna tattoos that inspired the collection, you could see how each piece is intricately hand-painted by Kate, who clearly inherited her father’s artistic genes.

And for the Goyard Painting Event, one of the Goyard painters flew over from Paris to customize and monogram Goyard pieces in their classic style. Whether you wanted a unique design or a monogram – this was the time to get something made for you or that special someone.
