In Good Taste

| Last Thursday night, I headed over to Saks Fifth Avenue for their In Good Taste event to benefit City Harvest. The event featured fashion designers’ favorite menu items from restaurants around the city set up next to the designer’s section on the 2nd floor of Saks. As any avid NYSD reader already knows, City Harvest is an incredible nonprofit organization that links the food industry and countless organizations, foundations, corporations, and private citizens to feed their hungry neighbors. It’s a favorite charity of DPC’s, and he was even honored at last year’s annual luncheon that raised $225,000. So when I was asked to go shopping, at Saks, with tastes from top restaurants, in honor of City Harvest, how could I resist? The evening was a total hit and done beautifully. It was also a great opportunity for shoppers to see the new spring collections. Only problem was, after eating all those delicious treats – who would want to try on clothes? |

| So, I headed up to the infamous 10022-Shoe department, to do my post-gorge shopping. I’ve been hearing about these six new collections from emerging European designers, many of which are exclusive to Saks. Honestly, I didn’t think much because who could out-do the classics: Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik, or Louboutin? Let’s just say, Heather Williams, Daniele Michetti, Diego Dolcini, Gianvito Rossi, Jonathan Kelsey, and Rupert Sanderson are names you should start getting to know ... very, very well. |
